Trail Description
This trail has been a favorite since moving to Rhode Island since it offers a variety of different scenic views. The trail is relatively easy but can be challenging at times with the steep rocky terrain. Traversing through the rhododendron forest around late May or early June, you will see the flowers bloom creating beautiful scenery. After the rhododendron forest the trail travels over a series of bridges and large rocks to an eventual climb up the mountain towards a split in the trail. The Nature Conservancy just replaced a ladder bridge which aids visitors over huge rock formations. The right trail will lead to the Ell Pond Trail and the left is a continuation of the Long Pond Trail which finally leads to the water. The Rock cliffs are over 3 stories high and present the hiker with a bit of rock climbing but all is worth it when you reach the top. There is plenty of parking located just at the entrance of the trail. Check out our Area Map to get directions to Long Pond.
